We have been having a great time exploring our "Food For Thought" project. This week we have started some wonderful conversation around the question, "Where does our food come from?". We've even started talking about whether it's better economically, and ethically to buy local. We have merely touched on these topics, however I can't wait to see where these conversations go as we continue to learn about healthy foods.
Last week we had a culinary expert come visit our class! Gayle Jensen (my mom!) came to visit last Thursday. She owns a catering business and did a question and answer session about how she puts menus together to form healthy, balanced, and nutritional meals for her clients. She also helped lead us in another healthy snack recipe! We chose this snack because it used whole grains, dairy, and different types of vegetables. One of my favorite quotes from this snack was from Matthew who said, "Mrs. Fuentes, I didn't know I liked radishes, but now I know I LOVE them!"
